Tennis-Expert Software main window |
It contains comparative statistics of 2 players
(teams). You will see their profiles (height,
weight, age, country, short description of
play style and latest information about them),
their matches on different surfaces, head-to-head
matches, graphics of general and surface
ratings, specialisation, quality of winnings
and losses coefficients, psychological confidence
and other information, including even calculation
of optimum weight, last retirements
and withdrawals with reasons.
You also will see detailed statistics for
each accessible match (1st Serve %, Aces,
Double Faults, Unforced Errors, Winning %
on 1st Serve, Winning % on 2nd Serve, Winners
(Including Service), Receiving Points Won,
Break Point Conversions, Net Approaches,
Total Points Won, Fastest Serve, Average
1st Serve Speed, Average 2nd Serve Speed
and so on), general and surfaces technical
parameters of game-style of every player/team.
Take a look at the top of main window.

In the right top corner (1) choose player
type (man, woman, man doubles, women doubles,
mixed). Choose the type of surface (2) (now
or later). In lists (3,4) write some surname
letters of first (3) and second (4) tennis
player, then choose them in the lists. You'll
have comparative statistics of 2 players
(teams).
Red profile information (5) means that tennis
player weight lesser or most than ideal on
6 kilograms (IMT).
Grey colour of some match means, that this
match has been won (6), white (7) - lost.
Red colour (8) means that player was retired.
Yellow colour (9) means, that there is detailed
statistics of this match (click twice to
see). Also see Window "Game Statistics".
To see some comments to the match, players
interviews before and after the match, reasons
for retirement, tournament name, round and
prize fund and so on (12) point the mouse
on match. Letter c in hints means, that this
is challenger tournament.
Next you'll see rounds success indexes (10,10a)
and head to head meetings (11).
White colour in head to head window means
a loss of first player, Safin, in our case.
Take a look at the middle of main window.

In (1) and (2) accordingly you can see general
and surfaces ratings, specialisation, number
of all matches, % won, current and maximum
place in our rating, coefficients of winnings
and losses quality.
Here is an interpretation of different combinations
of these coefficients:
Wins Q = 1 |
As a rule player's wins come from equal opponents |
Wins Q > 1 |
As a rule player's wins come from stronger
opponents |
Wins Q < 1 |
As a rule player's wins come from weaker
opponents |
Losses Q = 1 |
As a rule player's losses comes from equal
opponents |
Losses Q > 1 |
As a rule player's losses comes from weaker
opponents |
Losses Q < 1 |
As a rule player's losses comes from stronger
opponents |
Investigation of this coefficients and %
of won games give us a possibility to value
some player appearances objectively.
Examples:
Wins Q > 1, Losses Q < 1
A Player stably fights hard. Player's wins
come from stronger opponents. Losses are
logical (to stronger players). If attached
to this % of won games > 50 %, that is
a player with good prospects.
Wins Q > 1, Losses Q > 1
Player's game is completely instable. Systematic
victories over stronger opponents mix up
with stable losses to weaker players. This
is a great work for sport psychologist.
Wins Q < 1, Losses Q > 1, % of won
games > 80 %
A Player has a lot of wins, but all of these
victories are over relatively weak opponents.
In this case one can be recommended to play
tournaments with higher level.
You should take into account player's rating.
The higher a place the less will be Wins
Q and the more will be Losses Q. For N1,
when each player is relatively weaker, Wins
Q < 1 and Losses Q > 1. Percent of
wins for leaders must be more than 75 %.
Then you can see last retirements and withdrawals
(3), graphs of long-term (last 3 years) and
short-term (last 3 months) general rating
and surface rating.
And, finally, button "Prognosis"
- you'll see program prediction for current
match on selected surface.

Than you must save the tournament (10) (blocked in demo-version) and let a program to recalculate ratings

But we'll be converting some tournaments
(for one week) ad once. Convert them all.
You will see them in list "Tournament"
(5).
Beware, you need to select each tournament
from the first to the last one by turn and
save. Don't save in other turn.
There are some nuances here. Typical cases.
1 case: all tournaments ended in one week
- save first tournament and for time economy
don't let a program to recalculate ratings
by clicking "No". Click "Yes"
only after saving the last tournament.
2 case: sometimes I'll be sending you 2 files
with different dates. Firstly you should
convert the older one. Example: Wimbledon
(23.06.2003-06.07.2003) and challengers (30.06.2003-06.07.2003).
You must firstly save and calculate Wimbledon
and then challengers.

Rating's information in Tennis-Expert Software |
Administration/Registered ratings. You can
set up proportion, on the base of which a
program will count a general rating. To our
mind the second rating is the best, further
goes Sparks rating and rating one. We set
up 0.2 for rating 1, 0.5 for rating 2 and
0.3 for rating Sparks by default. You can
change this proportion. We'll be monitoring
the program effectiveness. Later we may recommend
you some better proportion.
